2015 Wedding Trends

While we are in the thick of the 2014 wedding season, and loving it, as designers we are always looking forward to the newest trends!

In 2014, we saw a shift from overly glamorous and glitzy weddings, towards more naturally styled weddings… The colors became more muted, and the decor at weddings became more relaxed and simple, by incorporating birds, flowers, and other soft, earthy touches.

For 2015, we are seeing this shift evolve! More and more brides are getting in touch with their inner gypsy, and opting for a bohemian styled wedding. These weddings fully encompass bohemian – informal, unconventional, and artistic. Brides, with the help of wedding blogs and, the oh so dangerous, Pinterest, are coming up with new and unique ways to style their big day.

We have compiled a list of our favorite wedding trends for 2015 and we will be searching for beautifully-unique inspiration and pinning it to our 2015 Wedding Trends board on Pinterest, so be sure to Follow Us!

For this post, we wanted to highlight a 2015 Wedding Trend, and show our bohemian styled take on it!

Pastels… We love this trend, because it is so versatile! Pastels go. They just go! One pastel goes with any other pastel, beautifully every time… This lends itself perfectly to the bohemian trend, because you can mix colors and prints and textures and not worry about over doing it – because like we said before, pastels just go! We had so much fun styling this table, with different pastels and more saturated shades and fun textures.

This trend is also really cool, because you can incorporate it throughout your wedding… There is the obvious, bridesmaid dresses… But we are thinking more interesting ways, like your dress! We love when brides go for it, wear that beautiful soft pink wedding gown… Seriously, when in your life will it be acceptable to wear a pink floor length gown again?

We recently styled a couple of lovely bridesmaids, and we chose to add to their pastel dresses with pastel bauble jewels and pastel floral crowns!

bohemian bayou wedding inspiration

For this shoot, our inspiration was the Louisiana Bayou with bohemian touches. We pulled in soft elements to reflect the whimsical Spanish moss that naturally drapes the trees.

Our color palette is a reflection of the neutral tones found in the swamp regions of the Bayou. We used a grayed jade, similar to fresh Spanish moss, as the center of our color scheme, with other natural tones. To round out our color palette, and stay on trend, we pulled in metallic silver accents.

For décor style, we found inspiration in New Orleans’ French Quarter. With vintage stands and platters in tarnished silver, the guests will get a feeling of old world French romance. With simple touches of a medicine shop or voodoo shop, we added repurposed apothecary bottles; while guests find their seats with fun-loving voodoo inspired potions.

The BHLDN Onyx Gown was the perfect blend of bohemian and romantic vintage. We chose this gown in Champagne to blend with the natural tones of the décor.

The Greenhouse Loft, located about 10 miles west of Chicago’s Loop, offers a beautifully flexible, and sustainable space. We wanted to keep the décor clean and simple to reflect the clean lines that the loft has.

FIG Catering brought some of the fun, bright, and sweet desserts that New Orleans has to offer!

Flowers for Charity

We recently put together floral arrangements and donated them to the Flower Market at VIVID: The 2014 Chicago House Spring Brunch & Fashion Show… And we are thrilled to share photos of the arrangements we put together for the event!

The brunch was held at Chicago’s historic Harold Washington Library, in the Winter Garden Ballroom. With a glass ceiling, the fashionable guests enjoyed fun cocktails, great food, and lovely fashion, all while basking in the sun-filled room.

We had a blast putting together these vibrant, spring arrangements… From unique vessels, to unexpected flowers, designing for the event’s Flower Market was tons of fun!

When we get the opportunity to do something we love for an organization like Chicago House, it reminds both of us why we do what we do! To be able to design beautiful things to be auctioned for such a wonderful cause, it truly a blessing!

Check out our arrangements HERE – We loved the arrangements so much, we had to snap a few shots with Betsy’s phone!

Chez – Chicago

We are always on the look-out for great venues… And as designers, we especially love venues that offer a versatile canvas. So when we find a venue like this, we have to share it!

Chez – Chicago is a contemporary space with a vibrant history! Once the Chez Paree nightclub, this newly renovated space lends itself to an intimate ceremony as well as to a 200 guest cocktail party.

For design, Chez is truly a blank canvas… With white painted brick walls and a wall with a handful of windows covered in soft drapes, the space allows a bride and groom to create a day that is truly unique.

Chez is located two blocks from the Magnificent Mile and from Chicago’s Lakefront. There are great hotels in walking distance and you’re just minutes from Grant Park, Millennium Park, and other must see spots in Chicago!

We think Chez is the perfect space for weddings!

2014 Brides Bubbles + Bliss at Union Station

Brides Bubbles + Bliss held its 5th annual bridal soiree at Chicago’s Union Station this year! With all of this year’s bridal trends, couture gowns, food from amazing caterers, and wedding day needs, this year’s Soiree was a luxurious event you didn’t want to miss! But, in case you did miss the soiree this year, we have some lovely photos, from Carasco Photography, of all things beautiful at 2014 BB+B!

The gowns, by Francesca Miranda, were truly works of art! Here are a few swoon worthy gowns from The Soiree…

We designed our reception table using the lovely Martine Dress by Francesca Miranda. The front of the gown is very simple, while the back has dramatic detailing that inspired our tropical palms and fern centerpieces!

Check out all of the vendors and their wonderful work at Brides Bubbles + Bliss!
